KHUJAND, July 14, 2012, Asia-Plus  — More than 6 kilograms of narcotics were seized in the northern city of Khujand on Friday.

An official source at the Interior Ministry’s office in Sughd province says an operation by local police led to the arrest of alleged drug pusher, U.G., 31.  While searching his apartment police officers reportedly found a package of narcotic drug that tested positive to hashish weighing 6.415 kilograms.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against the detained drug pusher and an investigation is under way, the source said.

According to the statistical data from the Drug Control Agency (DCA)’s office in Sughd, local law enforcement agencies have seized some 240 kilograms of narcotics over the first six months of this year.  A totaled included more than 61 kilograms of heroin, more than 155 kilograms of hashish and more than 22 kilograms of raw opium.
