DUSHANBE, August 29, 2012, Asia-Plus — A two-day training workshop entitled “A concept of Credit Information Bureau operations and its interaction with financial institutions. Loaning procedures using information provided by the Credit Information Bureau” is concluding in Dushanbe today.

According to the International Finance Cooperation (IFC) Dushanbe Office, the workshop is organized jointly by the Association of Banks of Tajikistan and IFC within the frames of the IFC Azerbaijan-Central Asia Financial Markets Infrastructure Advisory Services Project, funded by the Government of Switzerland, and is conducted by CRIF Company, which is directly involved in technical and institutional building of the Credit Information Bureau of Tajikistan (CIBT).

The principal objective of the workshop lies in training of financial institutions (banks, MFOs, leasing companies) personnel to ways of dealing with CIBT, as well as to provision of and request for information about borrower, and in building and strengthening their knowledge in preparation and processing of data within financial institutions.

In his introductory speech addressing the participants and organizers of the workshop, the Chairman of Association of Banks of Tajikistan, Mr. Izatullo Lalbekov noted: “We believe that as a result of this workshop the participants will get the answers to their questions, in particular regarding the cooperation with CIBT and its crucial and unique role in minimizing credit risks.”

This training workshop is the first among the entire chain of events planned within the project and aimed at preparing the market to activities on sharing credit information.

IFC in partnership with the Government of Switzerland started implementation of the Azerbaijan-Central Asia Financial Markets Infrastructure Advisory Services Project in 2009.  The aims to strengthen the financial markets infrastructure in the recipient countries by means of developing and establishing an efficient system of credit information sharing, and training and certification of personnel of financial institutions in the sphere of risk management.
