DUSHANBE, March 14, 2013, Asia-Plus  – Austrian companies are expected to participate in rehabilitation of hydroelectric power plants in Tajikistan.

Tajik Minister of Energy and Industries Gul Sherali today met here with Mr. Alexander Schwab, Vice-President of Andritz Hydro GmbH and Mr. Stefan Marocek, Regional Sales and Marketing Manager of Voith Hydro, according to the Ministry of Energy and Industries (MoEI) press center.

The sides reportedly discussed cooperation in energy and industrial sectors.  Special attention was given to rehabilitation and modernization of hydropower facilities.

The meeting resulted in signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation between Tajik MoEI and Andritz Hydro GmbH and a MoU on cooperation between Tajik MoEI and Voith Hydro on rehabilitation and modernization of hydroelectric power plants in Tajikistan.   

Andritz Hydro is a global supplier of electro-mechanical systems and services (“water to wire”) for hydropower plants and one of the leaders in the world market for hydraulic power generation.  The company is also a leading supplier in the service & rehabilitation sector and a world market leader for compact hydro.

Headquartered in Vienna, Andritz Hydro reportedly more than 50 locations in 20 countries worldwide.  The company is organized in five main divisions: large hydro; service & rehab; compact hydro; generator turbo; and pumps.

Voith Hydro (former Voith Siemens Hydro Power Generation), a joint venture between Voith and Siemens, is now a leading complete-system supplier for hydropower stations.  Currently, a third of the world’s hydroelectric power is reportedly produced with turbines and generators from Voith Hydro.  The company’s divisions are the following: large scale projects; small hydro; control and automation technologies; and integrated service.
