DUSHANBE, March 14, 2013, Asia-Plus  — Tajikistan has announced a tender for implementation of the Regional Power Transmission Project, which provides for 500/220kV substation rehabilitations and construction of new 220kV Geran-2 substation.

According to information posted on the website of the State Committee for Investments and State-owned Property Management (GosKomInvest), Tajikistan has received grant from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for implementation of this project.

The tender is reportedly open for all member countries of the Asian Development Bank.

A total cost of the project is 141 million U.S. dollars, including a $122 million grant awarded by the ADB and 19 million U.S. dollars contributed to the project by the Government of Tajikistan and Barqi Tojik (Tajikistan’s major electricity provider).

The project reportedly consists of five components, including construction of the 220kV power transmission line Qairoqqum-Asht construction of the 220kV Geran-2 substation and rehabilitation of the 500kV Regar substation and the 220kV Baypaza substation.
