DUSHANBE, March 14, 2013, Asia-Plus  — Over the first two months of this year, the external trade turnover of Tajikistan, including electrical power and natural gas, has amounted to 785.7 million U.S. dollars, which was 105 percent of the January-February 2012 level or 41.1 million U.S. dollars more, according the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan. 

The trade balance was negative and amounted to 300 million U.S. dollars.

Exports of goods In January-February this year have amounted to more than 245.5 million U.S. dollars, which was 18 percent, or 37 million U.S. dollars, more than in the same period last year.

Imports of goods into the country over the same two-month period have amounted to more than 543 million U.S. dollars, which was 12 percent, or 78 million U.S. dollars, more than in January-February last year.   

In January-February this year, Tajikistan has had relations with 70 countries of the world, including ten CIS nations.

Compared to January-February 2012 Tajikistan’s food product imports over the first two months of this year have reportedly fallen 25.

Meanwhile, Tajikistan has imported more than 50,000 tons of oil products for a total amount of more than 57 million U.S. dollars over the report period.  In February, Tajikistan imported more than 20,000 tons of oil products, which was 37 percent fewer than in February 2012.

In January-February 2013, Tajikistan’s major trading partners were: Russia – more than 132 million U.S. dollars; Turkey – 114 million U.S. dollars; Kazakhstan – 107 million U.S. dollars; and China – more than 95 million U.S. dollars, the Agency for Statistics said.
