DUSHANBE, April 30, 2013, Asia-Plus  — An exhibition of export goods from China’s Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (XUAR) is expected to take place in Dushanbe from September 20-23 this year.

This issue was discussed here yesterday at a meeting of Sharif Said, Chairman of Tajikistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI), with a delegation of China’s Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (XUAR), led by Sya Guantai (phonetically spelled), Director General, Department of Commerce, XUAR of China.

The CCI press center reports the sides discussed organizational issues related to preparations for the upcoming exhibition of export goods from XUAR.

Since 2004, similar exhibitions have taken place in Dushanbe, Kulob, Danghara, Gorno Badakhshan and other regions of Tajikistan.

In the course of the talks, Tajik CCI head outlined sectors like hydropower, minerals, light industry and agriculture, as areas of which could drive the bilateral trade between Tajikistan and the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of China.

According to him, the sides could also cooperate in developing the farm produce processing industry in Tajikistan.

“Tajikistan is also interested in cooperation with Chinese companies on construction of roads and tunnels,” the CCI head said.

Over the past ten days, a two-way trade between Tajikistan and China has reportedly increased from 32 million U.S. dollars to 2 billion U.S. dollars.
