DUSHANBE, June 7, 2013, Asia-Plus — A ceremony of opening of a classroom at the Military Institute of the Tajikistan Ministry of Defense took place on June 5.

According to the UK Embassy in Dushanbe, the new English teaching classroom now includes modern equipment where students of the Military Institute can improve their knowledge and understanding of English.  The refurbishment follows Ambassador Robin Ord-Smith’s call on the Minister of Defense a year ago, when the Minister requested British Government support for the Military Institute.

At the opening ceremony of the new classroom, Ambassador Robin Ord-Smith thanked the Tajik Ministry of Defense for their continued support to the Dari Language Training that British students undertake in the Military Institute and for the cooperation with the British Ministry of Defense, particularly with respect to the agreement to allow the transit of military personnel and equipment from Afghanistan over and through the territory of the Republic of Tajikistan.

Following their studies of English, Ministry of Defense personnel will have the opportunity to take part in peacekeeping courses with the British Ministry of Defense, ultimately helping them to enhance the peacekeeping capability of Tajik Armed Forces.
