DUSHANBE, September 13, 2013, Asia-Plus – President Emamali Rahman met with the Kazakh President, Nursultan Nazarbaev, last evening in Bishkek.

President’s press office reports that it was noted with satisfaction that Kazakhstan is in second place among the post-Soviet republics after Russia in terms of trade with Tajikistan.

While expressing satisfaction with a solid legal basis between the two countries, the parties noted that there are still unimplemented potentials for further development of ties. In particular, the need for a sooner activation of Tajikistan-Kazakhstan Direct Investments Fund’s possibilities, as well as activities of the Intergovernmental Economic Cooperation Commission was emphasized.

The parties also touched on simplifying legal status of the two countries’ citizens in each country, as well as widening cooperation in energy, transportation and communication, education, scientific, and cultural spheres.
