DUSHANBE, October 9 2013, Asia-Plus — The Central Asia Chess Cup will take place under the auspices of FIDE (World Chess Federation) in Dushanbe from October 11-12, Jamshed Isoyev, the Secretary-General of the Chess Federation of Tajikistan, said.

It will be the third Central Asia Chess Cup.  The previous two tournaments were held in Uzbekistan (2011) and Kyrgyzstan (2012).

The direct management of the tournament that will be held in nine rounds is entrusted to the Chess Federation of Tajikistan.

Representatives of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Afghanistan may participate in the tournament.

“To-date, eleven players from Uzbekistan, six players from Kazakhstan and three from Kyrgyzstan have confirmed their participation n the tournament,” Isoyev told Asia-Plus Wednesday afternoon.

According to him, chess players from Turkmenistan have failed to arrive in Tajikistan because of visa getting problems.  “Afghan chess players also have some visa getting problems and the number of members of Afghanistan’s team has not yet been determined,” said Isoyev.  “Grand Master Farrukh Amonatov is expected to participate in the tournament.”
