DUSHANBE, October 22, 2013, Asia-Plus — Pre-poll voting is reportedly provided to people who cannot vote on polling day.

Today, Precinct Election Commissions (PECs) will complete drawing up lists of voters and people who cannot vote on polling day will be given an opportunity to vote early beginning on October 23, Abdumannon Dodoyev, head of the Central Commission for Election and Referenda (CCER)’s office, said.

“Persons who want to vote early should submit documents confirming that they really will be outside Tajikistan on election day to the CCER,” Dodoyev said.

Six candidates have officially registered for the 2013 presidential election.  In addition to the incumbent President Emomali Rahmon, they are Tolibbek Bukhoriyev from the Agrarian Party; Olim Boboyev from the Party of Economic Reforms; Ismoil Talbakov from the Communist Party; Abduhalim Ghafforov from the Socialist Party; and Saidjaffar Ismonov from the Democratic Party.
