DUSHANBE, December 12, 2013, Asia-Plus – On the sidelines of the 40th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) of the Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) that concluded in Conakry, Guinea, yesterday, Tajik Deputy Foreign Minister, Nizomiddin Zohidov, held talks with heads of delegations of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, according to the Tajik MFA information department.
Zohidov and Murad Ali, Special Secretary of Foreign Affairs in charge of Asia-Pacific Region, Pakistani MFA reportedly discussed issues related to bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Pakistan in sectors like energy and construction.
They, in particular, discussed establishment of joint ventures for production of cement and other joint projects.
Nizomiddin Zohidov and Murad Ali also discussed opportunities of further expansion of cooperation between the two countries within the framework of the Organization of Islamic Conference and various agencies of the United Nations, the source said.
Tajik deputy foreign minister’s talks with Abdulaziz bin Abdullah, Deputy Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia were reportedly focused on implementation of specific mutually beneficial projects.
Zohidov outlined agriculture and mining, as areas of which could drive the bilateral trade between Tajikistan and Saudi Arabia.
For his part, Prince Abdulaziz noted that cooperation in sectors like agriculture and land reclamation is of significant importance for Saudi Arabia, the source said.
Meanwhile, the 40th Session of the CFM adopted a number of resolutions addressing the situation in Palestine, Syria, Libya, Yemen, Somalia, Sudan, Mali, and Afghanistan as well as developments in Cote d”Ivoire, Guinea, Azerbaijan, Turkish Cypriot State, Jammu and Kashmir, Niger, Comoros, Djibouti, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Kosovo and the Muslim community in Myanmar.

The organization attempts to be the collective voice of the Muslim world (Ummah) and attempts to safeguard the interests and ensure the progress and well-being of Muslims.
