DUSHANBE, December 25, 2013, Asia-Plus – Over the first eleven months of this year, Tajikistan produced a total of 414.6 million somoni worth of building materials, which is 25.9 million somoni more than in the same period last year, according to the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies (MoINT).

“Over the report period, Tajikistan has produced 306,200 tons of cement, which is 85,300 tons more than in January-November 2012,” an official source at a MoINT told Asia-Plus in an interview.

Over the same eleven month period, Tajikistan has imported 1.037 million tons of cement to the total amount of 99 million U.S. dollars.

Tajikistan’s annual requirements in cement reportedly fluctuate from 2 to 2.5 million tons.

In January-November this year, Tajikistan has produced 125 million pieces of bricks, which is 11 million pieces more than in the same period last year.

Over the same eleven-month period, Tajikistan has produced 15,000 square meters of building boards (6,400 square meters more than in January-November 2012) and 575.7 cubic meters of non-metallic materials (204.3 cubic meters more than in January-November 2012).

Over the report period, 26 new enterprises for production of building materials have been launched in Tajikistan, bringing the total number of building materials producing enterprises in the country to 204.
