DUSHANBE, April 3, 2014, Asia-Plus – On Thursday April 3, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon attended a groundbreaking ceremony for construction of a large cement plant, Gayur-Sughdcement, in the Bobojonghafourov district, Sughd province.

According to the Tajik president’s official website, Tajikistan’s Gayur Limited Liability Company will build the cement plant with capacity of 1.2 million tons per year in partnership with China’s Huaxin Cement Co.  A total cost of this project is 100 million U.S. dollars.  The plant is expected to be finished in 2016.

We will recall that Tajikistan-China joint venture, Huaxin Gayur Cement Co., Ltd, constructed a cement plant with annual capacity of one million tons in the Yovon district, Khatlon province.  The plant was introduced into operation last year.

The Yovon cement plant works on coal and coal is delivered to the plant from the Fon-Yaghnob and Ziddi coalfields.  Huaxin Gayur Cement Co., Ltd has reportedly used the latest technologies to build the plant and it meets regional environmental requirements.

Huaxin Gayur Cement Co., Ltd was established by Huaxin Zhongya Investment (Wuhan) Co., Ltd, the subsidiary of Huaxin Cement Co., Ltd, and Gayur Limited Liability Company.  Huaxin Zhongya Investment (Wuhan) Investment Co., Ltd assumes the 75% ownership interest and Gayur Limited Liability Company owns 25 percent of the shares in Huaxin Gayur Cement Co., Ltd.

According to Akbar Ghulomov, the head of Gayur Limited Liability Company, the construction of the Yovon cement plant has allowed cutting down cement prices in the country by 25 percent.
