DUSHANBE, June 5, 2014, Asia-Plus — Tajikistan is reportedly waiting for shipment of the second hydraulic turbine generator for the Roghun hydroelectric power plant.

The first hydraulic turbine generator SV 1140/280-48M with capacity of 360 megawatt was manufactured at Elektrotyazhmash in Kharkov, Ukraine in 2012 and it was shipped to Tajikistan in the same year.

According to information posted on Elektrotyazhmash’s website, the second hydraulic turbine generator with capacity of 400 megawatt was manufactured at Elektrotyazhmash in 2013.

Meanwhile, representatives from Open Joint-Stock Company (OJSC) NBO Roghun refrained from commenting on this issue.

According to the project, the Roghun HPP will have the world’s highest dam with project capacity of 3600 megawatt.  The construction is divided into several stages. The first line’s capacity is expected to make 400 megawatt with an average annual production of 5bln kilowatt/hours.  The plant will have a total of 6 hydro units.
