DUSHANBE, June 5, 2014, Asia-Plus — Fourteen officers from customs service participated in a three-day search techniques of stolen vehicles training that concluded in Dushanbe yesterday.
According to the Delegation of the European Union to Tajikistan, the training was organized by the European Union funded Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA) which is implemented by the UN Development Programme.
Two Austrian trainers representing International Center for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) provided basic information about different kinds of car theft and search aids.
In the course of the training, participants reportedly learned how to read a vehicle identification number (VIN) and how to detect stolen vehicles.
The third day of the training held at the Customs Terminal “Dushanbe-2” where the custom service officers had some practical exercises and were able to apply gained knowledge and skills on identification of stolen vehicles.
The overall objectives of BOMCA are to help increase security in the Central Asian region, to contribute toward the facilitation of legitimate trade and transit, and to reduce the illicit movement of goods and people.
