DUSHANBE, June 13, 2014, Asia-Plus – On Thursday June 12, new Representative of the UN Food and Agriculture (FAO) in Tajikistan, Mr. Viorel Gutu, presented his credentials to Tajik Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Aslov, according to the Tajik MFA information department.
The sides reportedly discussed state and prospects of further expansion of cooperation between Tajikistan and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is a specialized agency of the United Nations that leads international efforts to defeat hunger and ensure food security globally. Serving both developed and developing countries, FAO acts as a neutral forum where all nations meet as equals to negotiate agreements and to debate policies. FAO is also a source of knowledge and information, and helps developing countries and countries in transition modernize and improve agriculture, forestry and fisheries practices, ensuring good nutrition and food security for all.
