DUSHANBE, July 15, 2014, Asia-Plus — Over the first six months of this year, the external trade turnover of Tajikistan, including electrical power and natural gas, has amounted to nearly 2.9 billion U.S. dollars, which was 114.3 percent of the January-June 2013 level or 36 million USD more, according the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.

The trade balance was negative and amounted to 1.879 billion U.S. dollars.

Over the first six months of this year, exports of goods have amounted to 521 million U.S. dollars, which was 14.8 percent fewer than in the same period last year.

Over the same six-month period, imports of goods into the country have amounted to some 2.4 billion U.S. dollars, which was 23.5 percent more than in January-June 2013.   

In January-June this year, Tajikistan has had trade relations with 86 countries of the world, including ten CIS nations.

In January-June 2014, major trading partners of Tajikistan were: Russia – some 757 million USD; Kazakhstan – more than 414 million USD; China – 355 million USD; Turkey – some 270 million USD.   

We will recall that in 2013 the external trade turnover of Tajikistan amounted to some 5 billion U.S. dollars, which was 102.9 percent of the 2012 level or 146.7 million U.S. dollars more.
