DUSHANBE, August 9, 2014, Asia-Plus – On Friday August 8, U.S. Ambassador to Tajikistan Susan M. Elliott participated in the ribbon cutting ceremony for newly renovated facilities at Comprehensive School #120 in the Roudaki District.

According to the U.S. Embassy in Dushanbe, the renovation fully restored four classrooms with supporting facilities.  The work was funded by the U.S. Department of State’s Office of the Coordinator of U.S. Assistance to Europe and Eurasia (EUR/ACE) and implemented by Counterpart International’s

Community and Humanitarian Assistance Program (CHAP).  The repairs directly improved the learning environment for students and instructors by expanding available classroom space on the second floor, increasing the school’s capacity from 191 to 250 students.

Comprehensive School #120 was established in 1972 as a kindergarten for vulnerable families and was converted into a primary school in 2003.

Since 1992, the American people have provided more than $1 billion in programs and humanitarian aid in support of Tajikistan’s democratic institutions, health care, education, and economic growth.
