DUSHANBE, August 11, 2014, Asia-Plus — The boards of the interior ministries of Tajikistan and Russia are holding the next joint meeting in Khujand, the capital of the Tajik northern province of Sughd, the press center of Tajikistan’s Interior Ministry reports.

Co-chaired by Tajik Interior Minister Ramazon Rahimzoda and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Kolokoltsev, the meeting is taking place on August 11-12.

During a two day meeting, senior representatives of the interior ministries of Tajikistan and Russia are reportedly discussing issues related to cooperation between the interior ministries of the two countries in combating international terrorism and extremism, transnational crime and drug trafficking.

The meeting participants are expected to sign a protocol on making amendments to a cooperation agreement between interior ministries of Tajikistan and Russia signed on August 21, 2007 as well as a protocol on cooperation between the Investigation Department of the Interior Ministry of Russia and the Investigation Directorate of the Interior Ministry of Tajikistan.  They will also sign a plan of joint actions for 2015, the source said. 

The previous joint meeting of the boards of the interior ministers of Tajikistan and Russia took place in Moscow last August.
