Tajik police detained two Russian citizens, suspected of murdering a Tajik citizen.

The official website of the Interior Ministry reports that the former chief of the 31691 Military Unit of the Russian Military Base, Ildar Sakhapov and Fyodor Basimov, Deputy Commander of a platoon in the same unit, were detained. They are suspected of murdering Rahimjan Teshabaev, a Dushanbe resident.

The Interior Ministry website reports that the body of Rahimja Teshabaev was found on 9 August at 01:30 in Chimteppa village of Rudaki district in Opel Astra vehicle, plate number TJ 07-19 AH 01.

It is reported that the suspects are currently detained and investigation is ongoing.

Meanwhile, Colonel Yaroslav Roshchupin, the official representative of the Central Military District of the Russian Federation, commented on the situation and said that the Russian Military Base in Tajikistan is currently cooperating with Tajikistan’s law-enforcement agencies in the case.
