DUSHANBE, September 22, 2014, Asia-Plus – Asror Odinayev, the head of Tajikistan’s Ministry of Labor, Migration and Employment (MLME)’s office in Moscow has recently met in Moscow with Pavel Shalus, IOM Regional Project Director on Labor Migration, according to the MLME’s office in Moscow.

The sides reportedly discussed issues related to the progress of implementation of the labor migration management projects in Central Asia’s nations aiming at providing advocacy services, assisting with preparing and publishing information materials, etc.

Odinayev and Shalus expressed satisfaction with the progress of implementation of the mentioned projects, the source said.

According to him, they also discussed other aspects of cooperation on protection of rights and interests of migrant workers.

Tajikistan has been an IOM Member State since November 1994.  Since then, on the basis of its achievements IOM Dushanbe has endeavored to pursue its activities with the following aims: contribute to reform public administration in the area of migration; enhance the well being of migrants; enhance the capacity of the Government of Tajikistan to manage migration processes and combat trafficking in migrants; and foster durable peace.
