DUSHANBE, December 1, 2014, Asia-Plus  — The Agency for Labor and Employment of Population at the Ministry of Labor, Migration and Employment of Population has assigned a pension of 130.00 somoni per month to Shahbol Mirzoyev, who has been seriously injured in hazing incident during the military service.

Shahbol’s father, Numon Mirzoyev, says his son will receive this pension during two years – from September 18, 2014 to September 30, 2016.

We will recall that relatives of soldier Shahbol Mirzoyev, who was seriously injured in hazing incident, demand 241,000 somoni from the Main Border Guard Directorate of the State Committee or National Security (SCNS) in compensation for moral and material damage.

Lawyer Dilshod Jourayev, who represents Mirzoyev’s family, says they filed a lawsuit against the border guard directorate in the court of the Dushanbe military garrison last month.

According to him, they demand 97,000 somoni in moral damage and 144,000 somoni in material damage.

Shahbol Mirzoyev suffered severe spinal injuries and became paralyzed as the result of bullying in March this year.

A military court in Dushanbe sentenced a military doctor Usmonali Ghairatov to nine years in jail for seriously damaging Mirzoyev’s health on June 19, 2014.  Ghairatov was found guilty of hazing, inflicting bodily harm, and leaving a serviceman in danger.

The court also ruled that Ghairatov must pay 8,000 somoni to Shahbol Mirzoyev”s relatives to compensate for moral damages, and 5,700 somoni to cover Mirzoyev”s treatment in hospital.

Meanwhile, the Amparo human rights center released a statement on November 3, urging the government to compensate families of army conscripts killed in hazing incidents.

Amparo, in particular, noted in its statement that at least two conscripts have been killed and one left paralyzed in bullying incidents this year.
