DUSHANBE, December 2, 2014, Asia-Plus – Tajik Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Aslov yesterday received Mr. Alexander Zuev, the UN Resident Coordinator/UNDP Resident Representative in Tajikistan.

According to the Tajik MFA information department, the two discussed state and prospects of further expansion of cooperation between Tajikistan and the United Nations agencies active in the country.

A special attention was reportedly given to the UNDP-supported program s and projects being implemented in Tajikistan.

UNDP has been on the ground in Tajikistan since 1994.  UNDP Tajikistan works in partnership with the Government of Tajikistan and plays an active part to harmonize the efforts of all the UN agencies active in the country.  The development work of the UN agencies in Tajikistan is regulated by the United Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF).

UNDP’s goal is to support the Government of Tajikistan in the coordination of development initiatives, the public finance management, the delivery of core public services and the planning and decision-making.
