DUSHANBE, February 2, 2015, Asia-Plus – A working group for offering amendments to the national program for the shift to digital television services has met at the Committee for TV and Radio-broadcasting to discuss amendments offered to the program by representatives of civil society.

Zinatullo Ismoilov, the head of the Association of Producers and Distributors of TV and Radio Materials, says representatives of civil society, in particular, underlined the necessity of including independent TV stations in the list of TV channels that should be available to the population, forming commission for detailed study of digital broadcast market, and getting independent operators involved in development of digital television services in the country.

The meeting participants have made a decision to prepare the final version of amendments to the national program for the shift to digital television services within a week and submit it for consideration to the relevant government agencies, Ismoilov said.

20 independent TV stations now operate in the country and they can be picked up by 44 percent of the population.
