DUSHANBE, April 27, 2015, Asia-Plus – The third auto retro exhibition, dubbed Tajikistan Auto Retro, took place in Dushanbe on April 25.

Organized by the Initiative Group of Fans of Retro Cars and NextView Consulting Company under support of the Dushanbe Mayor’s Office, the exhibition was held on the territory of the Trading Complex Poytakht-90.

The exhibition featured such legends on wheels as the GAZ-M20 “Pobeda” (a passenger car produced in the Soviet Union by GAZ from 1946 until 1958), ZIM-12 (a Soviet limousine manufactured by GAZ from 1950 till 1960), Chaika M-13 (a luxury automobile from the Soviet Union made by GAZ; it was manufactured from 1959 till 1981), GAZ M21 Volga (a passenger car produced in the Soviet Union by GAZ from 1956 until 1972), GAZ-24 Volga (an automobile manufactured by GAZ from 1968 to 1985), several models of Moskvitch (an automobile brand from Russia produced by AZLK from 1945 to 1991), Zaporozhets (it was known as the “hunchback” because of its aesthetically challenged silhouette),  Opel Admiral (a luxury car made by the German car manufacturer Opel from 1937 to 1939 and again from 1964 to 1977), MG (the MG Car Company Limited was a British sports car manufacturer begun in the 1920s.  Best known for its two-seat open sports cars, MG also produced saloons and coupés), 1929 Mercedes Gazelle, ZIS-101 (a limousine that was manufactured in the Soviet Union from1936 to 1941.   The car was inspired by Buick designs of the time), Buick, Willys Jeep (a small four-wheel drive utility vehicle.  The first Willys MB Jeeps were produced in 1941 with the first civilian models in 1945, making it the oldest off-road vehicle and sport utility vehicle (SUV) brand) and GAZ AA, also known as “Polutorka” (1½ ton truck).

We will recall that the first auto retro exhibition, dubbed Dushanbe Auto Retro, took place in Dushanbe on April 21, 2013.  The retro car parade started in the center of city and ended at the ring road near Boghi Poytakht.  More than 30 retro cars and motorcycles manufactured from 1931 to 1970 participated in that parade.
