DUSHANBE, July 23, 2015, Asia-Plus — Four people were killed and at least two others were injured in two traffic accidents that took place in the country on July 22.

The Interior Ministry’ website reports that three people were killed and one was injured last Wednesday as a China-made minivan fell into the river in the Ishkashim district of the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO).

The driver lost control of the minivan and it fell into the Panj River, according to the website.  Three his passengers, including a 45-year man and three girls aged 17 to 20, were drowned.  The driver sustained various injuries and was taken to a hospital.

A search operation for the bodies of the drowned people is under way.

The second fatal traffic accident took place in the Danghara district of Khatlon province.   The driver reportedly lost control of his VAZ 2107 and it turned over.

The driver and his passenger, a 12-year-old boy from Dushanbe, sustained various injuries and were taken to a hospital, where the boy later died.
