Dushanbe. 8 September. “Asia Plus” — The cotton harvest campaign is continuing in Khatlon region in Tajikistan, reports the crop management of Agricultural Ministry of the Republic.

The report notes that at the beginning of this week in Khatlon region were collected more than 21 thousand tons of cotton.

In general, until the end of the year the farmers plan to collect more than 275 thousand tones of this crop.

The Ministry of Agriculture said that cotton growers of Khatlon region have started to harvest at the beginning of the last decade of August.

Meanwhile, farmers from the central districts of Sugd region has not begun the cotton harvest yet, as here because of the climatic features crop fully matures a little bit later.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, about 180 thousand hectares of land were planted with cotton this year.

At the end of the year Tajik farmers intend to harvest cotton in the amount of about 400 thousand tones.

Recall that in last year cotton has been planted on an area of about 178 thousand Ha, and the yield was approximately 390 thousand tones.
