DUSHANBE, November 13, 2015, Asia-Plus — A photo exhibition entitled “Signs of Sogdiana” will be held at the Sheraton Dushanbe Hotel on November 20.

The exhibition will feature photographs by Tajik writer and poetess Anisa Sabiri, who made photos during her several expeditions to the high villages of Tajikistan.

The photo exhibition also will be complemented by the new collection of paintings by the Russian artist Irina Dmitrieva-Vann, which are also dedicated to the residents of mountain areas.

The art event will be connected with literature – in addition to the photographs text miniatures written by Sabiri in the mountains in the style of oriental modernism, which will be included to her next “Dream of a Butterfly,” will also be presented at the event.

The evening will be finished with a concert of ethnic music performance by musicians Shakarmamad Poulodov, Ghulomsho Safarov and Qurbonasein Alishoyev.  The music program will be conducted in cooperation with Aga Khan Initiative in the field of the music art.

The name of the event has a purpose to attract attention to the history of the Tajik people.  Sogd is a historical region in Central Asia, where ancestors of modern Tajiks – Sogdians, lived. ””Original mountain world of Sogdiana – is the main theme of the event.  Ancient Tajik instruments – tanbour, rubob, setar, will bring the echoes of the mountains.

“This topic has its own mystique. Just imagine life in the mountains – in a world, hidden from eyes of the majority.  Our mountain systems store a lot of energy, symbols, that could be helpful to increase patriotism and humanity in the world. It”s time to open them gradually,” says organizer of the event Anisa Sabiri.  “We are grateful to everyone who supported us – two expeditions were organized thanks to the company” MegaFon Tajikistan.”  The tourist company, Mountain Adventure Travel, also helped us organize many trips.  I would also like to thank Sheraton Dushanbe Hotel for kindly providing facilities for exhibitions, the Aga Khan Music Initiative for supporting the music performance, and also the Lev Gumilyov Center and the
