DUSHANBE, November 30, 2015, Asia-Plus – The exchange rate between the dollar (USD) and the Tajik national currency, the somoni (TJS), is continuing to rise.

Currency-exchange points in Dushanbe have stopped selling U.S. dollars as the U.S. dollar has risen over 7.00 somoni.

On November 29, the market buying rate (the buying rate is the rate at which money dealers buy foreign currency) of USD against TJS in Dushanbe was 1:7.5 and at some currency-exchange it was even 1:7.6.

On November 30, the market buying rate of USD in Dushanbe fell to 1:7.4

Meanwhile, an official exchange rate between USD and TJS set by the National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT) is 1:6.72.

According to Tajik central bank, the current situation in the domestic currency market remains sustainable and change of the exchange rate is assessed as stable.  Therefore, lending agencies may set the exchange rates on their own; difference between their exchange rates and the official exchange rate should not be more than 1.5 percent.
