DUSHANBE, December 22, 2015, Asia-Plus – “It would be very important to solve the issue of resumption of the direct air communication between Tajikistan and Ukraine in 2016,” Ukrainian Ambassador to Tajikistan Victor Nikityuk told reporters in Dushanbe on December 22, noting that the Ukrainian side is ready to consider the issue.

The air communication between Dushanbe and Kyiv was cut off in February 20013.

“The flight was very convenient and it would be good to resume it,” the diplomat said.

According to him, Ukraine International Airlines (UIA), which is the flag carrier and the largest airline of Ukraine, has repeatedly announced its readiness to resume direct flights between Kyiv and Dushanbe.

“Kyiv is currently waiting for reply from the Tajik authorities about a visit of a Tajik delegation to Kyiv for negotiations on this issue,” said Ambassador Nikityuk.  “We are waiting for Tajikistan’s decision on granting permit to our air carriers to operate this flight.”

Ukrainian diplomat noted that the resumption of the direct air communication between the two friendly countries would undoubtedly be an important event.
