DUSHANBE, December 22, 2015, Asia-Plus – Ukraine is reportedly concerned over the fact that student quotas allotted to Tajikistan are not used in full.
Ukrainian Ambassador to Tajikistan Victor Nikityuk gave a press conference at the Republican Press Center in Dushanbe on December 22.
“Ukraine has allotted Tajikistan a student quota of 20 seats for this academic year but not all seats have been used,” the diplomat said.
Ambassador Nikityuk attributes the fact that Tajik students are refusing Ukrainian student quotas to propaganda carried out by “certain TV channels.”
He noted that it was necessary to organize a trip of Tajik journalists to Ukraine so that Tajik society would receive truthful information about Ukraine.
“Despite certain difficulties of which you are well aware, Tajik students are continuing to travel to Ukraine for studying,” said Ukrainian diplomat. “Moreover, Ukrainian universities offer technical specialties necessary for Tajikistan’s economy.”
In 2015, Ukraine reportedly allotted Tajikistan seats at universities in Dnepropetrovsk, Odessa, Kryvyi Rih, and Kharkiv.
More than 400 Tajik students are currently studying at higher educational institutions in Ukraine, Ambassador Nikityuk noted.
