DUSHANBE, January 4, 2016, Asia-Plus – Tajik president’s official visit to Saudi Arabia has reportedly resulted in signing of five cooperation documents.
President Emomali Rahmon arrived in Riyadh on an official visit on January 2 and Foreign Minister Siorjiddin Aslov, Presidential Adviser for International Ties Erkinkhon Rahmatullozoda, Minister of Economic Development and Trade Nematullo Hikmatullozoda, Minister of Transport Sherali Ganjalzoda, Minister of Education and Science Nouriddin Said, Chairman of the State Committee on Investments and State-owned Property Management Qodir Qosim, Chairman of the Committee on Religious Affairs Sulaymon Davlatzoda, Chairman of the Committee for Youth, Sports and Tourism Affairs Akhtam Abdullozoda, Director of the State Material Reserves Agency Nourmahmad Ahmadov, Chairman of Agroinvestbonk Murodali Alimardon and some other Tajik officials are accompanying Rahmon on his visit to Saudi Arabia, according to the Tajik president’s official website.
Negotiations between the delegations of the two countries resulted in signing of five new documents: a government-to-government agreement between Tajikistan and Saudi Arabia on cooperation in combating crime; memorandum of understanding between the governments of Tajikistan and Saudi Arabia on cooperation in the fields of science and technologies; a government-to-government agreement between Tajikistan and Saudi Arabia on cooperation between the Ministry of Education and Science of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Higher Education of Saudi Arabia; and a government-to-government agreement between Tajikistan and Saudi Arabia on mutual air communication.

) reports that Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon discussed on Sunday bilateral cooperation and issues of mutual concern including combating terrorism.

notes that accompanied by a large delegation, Rahmon arrived on an official visit in Riyadh on Saturday. He was received at the airport by Riyadh Gov. Prince Faisal bin Bandar and Tajikistan’s Ambassador Aazam Shash Rifi.
Earlier, Tajikistan said it was considering the proposal to join the 34-nation Saudi-led alliance against terrorism, and therefore, Rahmon’s visit assumes greater significance, according to

says Foreign Minister Adel Al-Jubeir held a phone talk earlier with his Tajik counterpart to discuss the alliance.
King Salman reportedly also hosted a luncheon banquet in honor of the visiting president and the accompanying delegation.
