DUSHANBE, January 19, 2016, Asia-Plus – The Khatlon Coordinating Drug Abuse Prevention Committee (Coordinating Committee) held a meeting in the Yovon district yesterday to discuss the drug abuse problems, the Drug Control Agency (DCA) press center said.  

Speaking at the meeting, the Coordinating Committee head Rajabali Rajabov noted that 50 residents of the Yovon district, including three women, were detained in Russia for drug trafficking last year alone.

In all, 32.332 kilograms of heroin were confiscated from them.      

The meeting participants noted that legal illiteracy was one of the main reasons for involvement of labor migrants from Yovon in drug trafficking. 

They pointed to the necessity carrying out explanatory work among the potential labor migrants, the source said.
