DUSHANBE, March 9, 2016, Asia-Plus — On Monday March 7, outgoing Korean Ambassador to Tajikistan (with residence in Tashkent) Lee Wook-heon met here with Tajik First Deputy Foreign Minister Nizomiddin Zohidi at the end of his tenure to the Republic of Tajikistan.

According to the Tajik MFA information department, they two sides exchanged views on state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and South Korea.

They also discussed cooperation between the two countries in the framework of the United Nations and other multilateral formats.

Zohidi expressed gratitude to Lee Wook-heon for his contribution to expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and South Korea and wished him success in his diplomatic career.

On the same day, Zohidi received Turkish Ambassador to Tajikistan Ahmet Asym Arar.

The two discussed prospects of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Turkey and exchanged views on the upcoming events in Dushanbe and Ankara aimed at expansion of bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the fields of economics, security, etc.

On March 7, Nizomiddin Zohidi also met here with Afghan Ambassador to Tajikistan Abdul Ghafour Arzu and Deputy Head of the European Union Delegation to Tajikistan Margus Solnson.

During the meeting, they reportedly conveyed to Zohidi a joint invitation letter by the President of the European Union Donald Tusk and the President of Afghanistan Ashraf Ghani addressed to Tajik President Emomali Rahmon.  President Rahmon is invited to participate in the next Ministerial Conference on Afghanistan that will take place in Brussels from October 4-5, 2016.

The conference will also discuss the issue of ongoing insurgency in Afghanistan and help reaffirm international support to Afghanistan until the end of 2020.
