DUSHANBE, March 30, 2016, Asia-Plus – A conference of representatives of the business communities of Tajikistan and South Korea took place in Dushanbe on March 30.

The event that brought together more than 100 entrepreneurs from both countries was reportedly aimed at promoting further expansion of trade and economic cooperation between Tajikistan and South Korea.

Speaking at the meeting, Ms. Nigina Anvari, Deputy Chairperson of the State Committee on Investment and State-owned Property Management of Tajikistan (GosKomInvest), said that a two-way trade between Tajikistan and South Korea last year valued at about 20 million U.S. dollars.

She noted that there was still considerable room for further expansion of economic ties between the two countries.

Mr. Anvari outlined sectors like industry, agriculture, tourism, and labor migration as areas that could drive the bilateral trade between Tajikistan and South Korea.

She further added that Tajikistan had provided all necessary conditions and favorable climate for business and investment.

On the sidelines of the forum, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation between Tajikistan’s State Unitary Enterprise Tajinvest and the Korea-Central Asia Friendship Association was signed.
