DUSHANBE, April 1, 2016, Asia-Plus – Tajikistan’s lower house (Majlisi Namoyandagon) of parliament has discussed the process of public financing of the country’s agrarian sector. 

Parliamentary hearings on the process of public financing of the agrarian sector during the period from 2012 to 2020, presided over by the first deputy head of the Majlisi Namoyandagon, Abdujabbor Azizi, took place on April 1.

Speaking at the meeting, Azizi noted that the national budget for 2016 earmarked 18.7 million somoni for implementation of the agriculture development programs and 15 million somoni for purchase of agricultural machines.

MP Rustam Latifzoda said that nine agricultural development projects for total amount of 209.9 million U.S. dollars were currently being implemented in the country under support of international financial institutions and foreign investors.

The meeting participants noted that access to preferential loan remained one of main problems facing the country’s agrarian sector.   

According to them, the agrarian sector accounted for only 8.2 percent of the overall volume of loan provided in the country last year.
