DUSHANBE, April 1, 2016, Asia-Plus – A conference of representatives of the business communities of Tajikistan and Germany took place in Dushanbe on April 1.
Organized by the State Committee on Investment and State-owned Property Management (GosKomInvest), the forum reportedly brought together 20 German and more than 40 Tajik entrepreneurs as well as representatives of relevant ministries, agencies and organizations of Tajikistan.
The forum participants discussed a broad range of issues related to economic, marketing and investment cooperation between the two countries.
According to the GosKomInvest press service, the event was organized for the purpose of expanding mutually beneficial ties between the entrepreneurs of Tajikistan and Germany.
Over the past nine years, Germany has reportedly invested 166.7 million U.S. dollars in Tajikistan’s economy. This amount includes 6.7 million U.S. dollars provided in a form of foreign direct investments (FDIs) and 160 million U.S. dollars provided in a form of loans.
A major part of Germany’s investments has reportedly gone to support enhancement of the country’s financial services sector.
Besides, seven investment projects for a total amount of 65.3 million U.S. dollars and 178 external aid projects for a total amount of 152.3 million U.S. dollars have been implemented in Tajikistan over the past decade due to Germany’s public support.
Twenty-nine Tajik-German joint ventures now operate in Tajikistan, according to the GosKomInvest press service.
According to data of the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan, a two-way trade between Tajikistan and Germany last year valued at 45.3 million U.S. dollars, which was 18 percent more than in 2014.
