DUSHANBE, April 27, 2016, Asia-Plus – Tajikistan is reportedly continuing to increase its cotton fiber exports.

According to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan, Tajikistan has exported 31,600 tons of cotton fiber over the first three months of this year, which is 7.8 percent more than in the same period last year (in January-March last year, Tajikistan exported 29,300 tons of cotton fiber).

Cotton fiber exports have reportedly earned the country 39 million U.S. dollars in January-March this year, which is 1.2 million U.S. dollars more than in the same period last year.  

Over the same three-month period, the major trading partners to Tajikistan’s cotton fiber were Turkey, Iran and Russia.

In 2015, Tajikistan exported about 108,000 tons of cotton fiber.  Last year, the country earned more than 144.5 million U.S. dollars from cotton fiber exports.
