DUSHANBE, July 15, 2016, Asia-Plus – Archeological discoveries show that the Danghara district is more than 4,000 years old, Farhod Rahimi, President of the Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan, told reporters in Dushanbe on July 14.
According to him, archeological excavations were launched in Danghara last century and the Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan resumed the archeological excavations in the area last year.
“We have sent all the archeological finds for examination to international research centers, but is already clear that the archeological discoveries show that Danghara is more than 4,000 years old,” Rahimi said.
“Scientists suppose that it is continuation of the Sarazm civilization,” he added.
It is to be noted that Danghara is a hometown of incumbent Tajik President Emomali Rahmon. A new international airport is being building in Danghara. A new Medical University is expected to be opened in Danghara on September 1 this year. Besides, Tajikistan’s largest oil refinery will be built in Danghara.
As of January 1, 2015, the population of the Danghara district was estimated at 136,100.
