KHUJAND, August 3, 2016, Asia-Plus — Teenager from the northern Sughd province has got a lengthy jail term for extremist calls.

A court in Sughd’s Bobojonghafourov district sentenced local Grade 10 student to 10 ½ years on August 2.  He will serve his term in a minimum-security penal colony.

Judge Nourullo Ashourzoda, who presided over the trial, says the student posted videos and photos of Islamic State (IS) terrorist group on his Internet page for the purpose of encouraging Tajik nationals to join that terrorist organization.

“Before his arrest, the number of visitors of his Internet page has exceeded 1,000 people,” the judge said, noting that the page also contained public calls to extremist activity.
