The representatives of Women's resource centers of Tajikistan have exchanged the experience in the issues related to domestic violence and human trafficking.

As it was reported in the OSCE Office in Tajikistan, a two-day working meeting of the network of 18 Women's resource centers (WRCs), supported by the OSCE, has ended today, September 2, in Dushanbe.

This event was attended by 36 representatives of the WRC. The participants have exchanged experience in key areas of their activities, reviewed the issues related to the need of strengthening of work coordination, use of best practices.

The event was held in the framework of the project "Women resource centers", which provides a platform to employees of such centers to exchange the information and with the help of advanced methods to assist and protect victims of domestic violence and human trafficking at the local level.

"Meeting of the project leaders of the WRC is the opportunity to discuss current issues in the work centers and joint search for effective ways of their solution," – said national officer on gender issues of the OSCE Office in Tajikistan Mahbuba Mamadatohonova.

The Director and head of Women's resource center in Khuroson district of Khatlon region Marifat Hidiralieva noted that the WRC network is the largest in the country among working institutions of civil society that work directly with victims of violence and abuse. "Meeting of project managers facilitates the exchange of advanced experience, to strengthen our capacity in the field of project management" – she said.

The meeting is the first in a series of five thematic events planned by the OSCE Office in Tajikistan for the staff of the WRC in the fall this year. One of the main objectives of these activities includes strengthening the capacity and expanding the network of national women's rights defenders.
