The long awaited flights between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan can be opened in the first half of 2017.

Uzbekistan and Tajikistan can resume flights between the two countries in the first half of 2017, told the Director General of Uzbekistan Airways Valeriy Tyan.

According to him, it is planned that the flight between Tashkent and Dushanbe will be included in the summer schedule of the National airline "Uzbekiston havo yullari".

"Maybe this flight will take place even earlier, there are all possibilities", — said the leader of Uzbek airline.

Summer schedule of Uzbekistan Airways operates from late March to October. Therefore, the long-awaited first flight between the two countries after the resumption of flights can be done in the next five months.

Recall that recently the Minister of transport of Tajikistan Sherali Ganjalzoda during his speech in Parliament said that the authorities of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan have prepared a draft of intergovernmental agreement on the resumption of flights between the two countries. Herewith, the official did not name any specific dates.

The flights between the two countries ceased in the autumn of 1992, and in 2000 Uzbekistan introduced a visa regime for travel to Tajikistan.
