Deputy chief of the pretrial detention facility in the northern city of Istaravshan (Sughd province), Masnadqul Kholiqov, has been arrested on suspicion of bribe taking.
According to the anticorruption agency press center, Kholiqov has received a $600 bribe from local resident for not transferring his brother from the Istaravshan pretrial detention facility to a penal colony in Yovon district (Khatlon province).
Kholiqov was reportedly caught red-handed while taking the bribe.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against him under the provisions of Article 247 (2) of Tajikistan’s Penal code. Kholiqov’s case has already moved to the Istaravshan city court, the press center said.
