A 28-year-old woman from Khujand, the capital of the Sughd province, has been detained on suspicion of killing her mother in-law, according the Interior Ministry’s office in the Sughd province.

The woman reportedly inflicted three stab wounds on her mother-in-law on November 21 following family quarrel.

“A 54-year-old woman died on the way to a hospital,” a source at the Interior Ministry’s office in Sughd told Asia-Plus in an interview.  

Criminal proceedings have been instituted and an investigation is under way. 

Meanwhile, the Interior Ministry’s website reports two have been detained for committing brutal killings.

A 27-year-old resident of the Roudaki district reportedly killed his wife, inflicting several stab wounds on her following family quarrel.

Another detainee, a 44-year-old resident of Dushanbe, inflicted four stab wounds on a 77-year-old man.  The elderly man died on the spot.  

Criminal proceedings have been instituted and an investigation is under way, the website said.
