Tajik President Emomali Rahmon has sent condolences to his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin over the Kemerovo shopping center blaze, which killed at least 64 people, many of them children.

In a message of condolences sent to Vladimir Putin on March 26, Rahmon noted that he was deeply saddened to learn of the devastating blaze in the Kemerovo shopping that had caused numerous human casualties.

Tajik leader also asked to convey his deep condolences to families of the victims.

At least 64 people died in a fire that engulfed a shopping and entertainment complex in the Siberian coal-mining city of Kemerovo.

Of 25 bodies that have been formally identified, 13 were children, Russia's Health Minister Veronika Skvortsova told state news agency TASS Tuesday.

The blaze started on an upper floor of the Winter Cherry complex during school holidays. The mall's shops, cinema and bowling alley were reportedly packed at the time.

Russia's Investigative Committee said four people have been detained after it had discovered "serious violations" in its inquiry into Kemerovo shopping mall blaze.
