A delegation of Uzbekistan’s Samarqand region will arrive in Khujand, the capital of the Tajik northern Sughd province, on September 7 on a three day visit.

The delegation comprising Uzbek public and cultural figures as well representatives of the Samarqand local authorities and led by the Samarqand governor Erkin Turdimov will participate in celebrations dedicated to the 27th anniversary of Tajikistan’s Independence, Mamour Yusufov, a spokesman for the Khujand mayor’s office, told Asia-Plus in an interview. 

A festive concert of the Samarqand artistes will take place at the Khujand central square and an exhibition of Samarqand industrial goods will open at the Khujand Sports Palace on September 8.  

On the same day, a business forum with participation of Sughd and Samarqand entrepreneurs will be held at the “Sughdiyon” Cultural Palace in Khujand.  

On September 7, a friendly match between Khujand’s Football Club “Khujand” and Samarqand’s Footbal Club “Dinamo” will take place at the Khujand Central Stadium on September 7.  

While in Sughd, Uzbek guests will also visit the Sughd Free Economic Zone (Sughd FEZ), Khujand Central Mosque named after Sheikh Maslihatdin, Kamol Khujandi Park and Panjshanbe Bazaar.
