In the administrative center of GBAO in Khorog began the process of voluntary delivery of illegally stored weapons and ammunition from the population, source in the power block of the government of Tajikistan reported.

Weapons and ammunition, mostly, are voluntarily handed over to representatives of law enforcement agencies former soldiers and commanders of the civil war period in the country.

Simultaneously, in the city with the assistance of the local population the campaign is in full swing for cleaning glasses of illegally tinted cars, as well as on official registration of previously unavailable state license plates.

The press service of the head of GBAO stated that "nobody forces anyone to surrender weapons, clean glasses and register cars, the population voluntarily joined the events after the president's statement".

“Tomorrow, September 27, the head of the GBAO Shodihon Jamshed will hold a control meeting on the above issues, where the figures will be announced – how many weapons have been delivered voluntarily, how many drivers voluntarily got rid of tinting”, – the press service informed.

Recall, following the results of his working trip to GBAO, the President of Tajikistan on September 15 at a meeting with the region's assets sharply criticized the work of law enforcement agencies of the region. He gave them a month deadline for bringing order.

As a result of the previous operation of the State National Security Committee and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan, a special operation to disarm residents of GBAO was voluntarily handed over 39 firearms, including 11 Makarov pistols, 8 AKM submachine guns, 1 machine gun and 1 SCS-7 carbine, and 19 other firearms.

Arms were handed over from August 16 to September 8 on the territory of GBAO as part of events organized by the Interregional Republican Staff for Security and Public Order.
