Deputy Prime Minister Mahmadtohir Zokirozoda heading a Tajik government delegation arrived in Tashkent yesterday for participation in the first Central Asian economic forum that is kicking off in the Uzbek capital today.

The delegation members include Minister of Transport Khudoyor Khudoyorzoda, Minister of Industry and New Technologies Zarobiddin Fayzullzoda, Head of the Sate Committee on Investment and State-owned Property Management Farrukh Hamralizoda, Chairman of the Tourism Development Agency Numon Abdughafforzoda and senior representatives of a number of relevant ministers and agencies, a source in the Tajik government told Asia-Plus in an interview.               

The forum is expected to provide platform for establishing a direct dialogue between the business communities and the authorities of the region in the field of trade and industry as well as help find the best conditions for entry of goods and services produced in Central Asia to foreign markets.

Issues related to expanding investment cooperation between the countries of the region, promoting regional trade, improving tourism attractiveness and raising transportation and transit capacity have been tabled to the event’s agenda, the source said.

More than 200 people representing local authorities, business circles and expert communities of the Central Asian region communities as well as potential investors are participating in the Central Asian economic forum.

The thematic sessions on investment, financial and technological cooperation, introduction of innovations and development of transportation infrastructure will be organized on the sidelines of the forum.
