As water plays a pivotal role in how the world mitigates and adapts to the effects of climate change, including in the context of disaster risk reduction, this high-level event in the framework of the Water Action Decade, highlighted the potential and existing interlinkages between water and climate action while shining a light on sustainable approaches to water resource management for the achievement of climate objectives in the context of sustainable development.

In a statement delivered at the meeting, Tajik Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin underlined the significant increase in the number of extreme natural phenomena in Tajikistan, which causes serious damage to the population and the economy of the country, according to the Tajik MFA information department.

Mr. Muhriddin noted the ever-increasing impact of climate change on the high volume of glacier and snowfalls melting.
