Two new supervisory bodies have been established in Tajikistan – the Food Safety Committee and the Service of State Supervision of Health and Social Protection.  The new supervisory bodies have been established by merging several bodies.

Thus, the Food Security Committee has been established on the basis of merging four Services of the Ministry of Agriculture, namely the State Service of Veterinary Supervision, the State Service of Phytosanitary Supervision and Plant Quarantine, the State Service of Pedigree Stock Supervision and the State Inspectorate for Plant Seeds.

The Service of State Supervision of Health and Social Protection under the Ministry of Health and Social Protection (MoHSP) has been established on the basis of the Service of State Supervision of Pharmaceutical Activity, the Service of State Supervision of Medical Activity and Social Protection of Population and the Service for State Sanitary and Epidemiological Supervision that had been subordinate to a MoHSP.

Due to establishment of the two new supervisory bodies the number of inspections reportedly reduced from 78,700 in 2016 to 39,200 in 2018 and the number of the state inspecting bodies will reduce to twenty-five.
